Janney E. Sanders
Janney E. Sanders began his legal career in Toccoa, Georgia in 1978 after completing his law degree at the University of Georgia. He joined Alton M. Adams and Cecil L. Clifton, Jr. in the practice known then as Adams & Clifton, P.C., a general practice firm. Janney has handled almost every type of legal matter over the years including divorce and custody cases, criminal defense trials including such offenses as murder, burglary, drug offenses and others, real estate related litigation, business and banking litigation and personal injury and wrongful death, including trials pertaining to all such areas of law. Janney now primarily concentrates his practice in residential and commercial real estate, banking law, business law, wills and estate planning and probate. Although he does not handle as much trial work, Janney still handles some litigation in his practice areas.
After completing his high school education at Dodge County High School in Eastman, Georgia Janney attended Georgia Tech earning a degree in Industrial Engineering in 1972. Janney worked in engineering for several years before enrolling in the law school at the University of Georgia in 1976. Janney earned his Juris Doctorate degree, magna cum laude, in December, 1978 and was admitted to practice law the same year.
Janney is admitted to practice in the State courts of Georgia and the Northern and Middle Districts of the Georgia Federal Courts. He has successfully argued cases before the Georgia Supreme Court and Georgia Court of Appeals. He is a former President of the Mountain Judicial Circuit Bar Association and the Stephens County Bar Association. He is a member of the Chattahoochee Inn of Court and is a trained mediator.
Janney has been married to the former Cynthia Cadwell since December, 1970 and has 3 children and 5 grandchildren. Janney and his family attend First Baptist Church of Toccoa where he has served as deacon and Sunday school teacher.

Brian C. Ranck
Brian C. Ranck began his legal career in Macon, Georgia in 2001 after receiving his law degree from the University of Alabama School of Law. In 2005 he joined Janney E. Sanders and Russell W. Smith in the practice known then as Sanders & Smith, P.C., a general practice firm in Toccoa, Georgia. Brian has a general practice and has handled matters from a broad range of practice areas. Some of the practice areas include general civil litigation, contested and uncontested domestic matters, including divorce, custody, legitimation and adoption, real estate and land dispute litigation, banking litigation, creditor’s rights, collections, creditor bankruptcies, residential and commercial real estate closings and transactions, auto accident, personal injury and wrongful death cases, business law, wills and probate matters, and representing governmental entities, including serving as the Stephens County Attorney since 2007. As a general practitioner Brian handles matters in most any practice area.
Brian graduated from South Gwinnett High School in Snellville, Georgia in 1994. Brian attended the University of Georgia from 1994 until 1998 graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice Studies. Brian was recognized as a member of the National Criminal Justice Honorary Society among other academic awards and honors while at UGA. From 1998 until 2001 Brian attended the University of Alabama School of Law earning his Juris Doctorate in June of 2001. While attending the University of Alabama School of Law Brian was selected to the Law and Psychology Review as a Junior Editor. Brian passed the Georgia State Bar Exam and has been admitted to practice law as a member of the Georgia Bar since 2001.
Brian is admitted to practice in all Courts of the State of Georgia including the Georgia Court of Appeals and Georgia Supreme Court. Brian is also admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Georgia, United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. Brian has successfully handled appeals in the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, Georgia Court of Appeals and the Georgia Supreme Court. Brian currently serves as the Vice President of the Mountain Judicial Circuit Bar Association, is a member of the Stephens County Bar Association and is a member of the Georgia State Bar Real Property and Governmental Law Sections. He is also a member of the Chattahoochee Inn of Court.
Brian grew up in Snellville, Georgia where he met his wife, the former Dr. Allison B. David. Brian and Allison married in July of 2002. Brian’s wife Allison is a Medical Doctor and currently works as a pediatric hospitalist. Brian and his wife Allison are avid UGA football fans and are active in various church and civic organizations.

Matthew D. Skilling
Matt was born in South Florida, grew up in Middle Georgia, and has lived throughout the Southeast. He moved to Northeast Georgia in 2010 and loves working and living in this part of Georgia. After law school, Matt joined a law firm in Albany, Georgia and worked in a statewide litigation practice for nearly five years. During this time, Matt litigated Commercial, Insurance, Business, and General Civil matters throughout the state. In May 2010, Matt joined Sanders & Ranck, P.C. as an Associate, and he was named a Partner in Sanders, Ranck & Skilling, P.C. in January 2013.
Matt enjoys having a diverse litigation practice, but he also represents and counsels clients in matters outside of court. He represents clients that range from individuals in litigation or domestic matters to “mom and pop businesses” to governmental entities to large corporations, and he has been retained as local counsel in the Mountain Judicial Circuit on numerous occasions. Matt’s practice areas include:

Matt attended high school in Macon and then the University of Georgia where he studied Environmental Health Science. After graduating, Matt attended the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga on scholarship and worked as a graduate research assistant. After completing his Masters degree, Matt worked for an environmental consulting firm before enrolling in law school at Mercer University and earning his Juris Doctorate degree in 2005.
Matt is licensed to practice in all State and Superior Courts of the State of Georgia, the Georgia Court of Appeals, and in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Georgia.
Matt married his wife, Rachel, in 2000.
Professional Affiliations and Civic Involvement:
Matt is an active member of the local community where he lives and works. He is a past member of the Chattahoochee Inn of Court, and current member of the State Bar of Georgia and the Mountain Judicial Circuit Bar Association. He enjoys competing in distance running events across Georgia. Matt and Rachel are members of Saint Matthias Episcopal Church in Toccoa where they have both served on the Vestry and Matt served as Senior Warden in 2015 and 2016.
